Former Tramsheds, Tracks, Rosettes and Turning Circles
Sydney had a vast tram network - one of the world's largest - from 1879 until 1961. The lines were ultimately closed due largely to their popularity amongst the general public; and their hatred by motorists (who blamed the trams for traffic congestion).
The images here are of some of the remaining elements of that wonderful system.

Construction of the Pitt Street Mall - the conversion of a section of the street into a pedestrian shopping area.
Although the mall seems to be undergoing constant change, the wonderful Strand Arcade [1891] is largely untouched.
NB : The tram tracks which were uncovered during this work were left in situ, and simply covered over.
