The NSW town of Ballina, on the northern shore of the Richmond River (the Pacific Ocean end). Although the origin of the name is uncertain (it's possibly a corruption of a clan name for the Bullina band of the Arakwal), European settlement is known to have begun in the 1840s.

This particular structure is the Ballina Court House and Post Office, River Street. Constructed 1867.
