Broke
As with nearby Wollombi, the village of Broke grew around the Great North Road [1826-1836]. Named by Surveyor-General Thomas Mitchell, after his friend Sir Charles Broke-Vere.

Memorial in McNamara Park, constructed on the remains of Blaxland Homestead. Built by John Blaxland in what is now Fordwich (named after the town in Kent, where Blaxland was born), about 1860.
