Sydney, Australia
Peace Park, near the junction of Buckland and Myrtle Streets. Originally part of Thomas Shepherd's 1826 grant, it was earmarked as a residential space in 1974 (the factories on the site were demolished at that time).
Four years later it had still not been converted, and was purchased by the Sydney of City Council. After the Council's plans had also fallen through, the area was turned into a park in 1985. The name stems from the strong anti-nuclear protests of the time.
