Parramatta : St Patricks Cathedral
St Patrick's Cathedral, Marist Place. The first mass on the current site took place in 1803, with the building being constructed 1836-1837.
Consecration took place on 28 May that year.
Partially destroyed by fire in 1996, architect Romaldo Giurgola - perhaps best known for designing Parliament House in Canberra - was commissioned to design the restorations.
NB : Originally known 'St Patrick's Church', it was renamed St Patrick's Cathedral in 2003.
