Gladesville : Anglican Christ Church and Rectory

This particular building is the Anglican Christ Church and Rectory, Victoria Road. Designed by architects Albert Bond, Cyril Blackett & Arthur Blackett; constructed 1886-1887 by builders Peter Hall and Mr Albury.
Extended in 1885-1886 and again in 1962.
NB : The War Memorial Gates were added in 1926 - dedicated to the locals who belonged to the Anglican Church and served in World War I. Initially sited on the corner of Victoria Road and Jordan Street, they were relocated during the widening of Victoria Road in 1931.

The suburb 'Gladesville' in Sydney's Northern Suburbs. Originally known as 'Doody’s Bays to the Europeans (convict artist John Doody was granted land here in 1795), the current name is from the estate of a later resident - John Glade. The estate was named 'Gladesville' when it was subdivided and sold in November 1855.
