Gladesville : Bayview Hotel
The suburb 'Gladesville' in Sydney's Northern Suburbs. Originally known as 'Doody’s Bay' to the Europeans (convict artist John Doody was granted land here in 1795), the current name is from the estate of a later resident - John Glade. The estate was named 'Gladesville' when it was subdivided and sold in November 1855.

This particular structure is the Bayview Hotel - the third hotel in Gladesville (the original was constructed in 1879 on land granted to John Doody. The current building dates to 1928 - 1934, replacing the original when this part of Victoria Road was widened.
