Documenting Australia's rich Aboriginal and European history.
Darling Harbour [1988-2013]
Named after Lieutenant-General Ralph Darling, Governor of New South Wales from 1825 to 1831.
Darling Harbour, Sydney, NSW, Australia
Construction of the 'TNT Harbourlink' monorail. On the right is the massive AML and F Woolstore, Bullecourt Place (428-466 Harris St Ultimo). Constructed early 20thC - replacing a number of 1870s terrace houses.
Unused from the 1960s, largely destroyed by fire in 1992. The remaining walls were pulled down a few years later, and the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre [Harry Seidler, 2001-2007] now stands in its place.
Beyond is the former Ultimo Power Station [constructed 1900, converted to the 'Powerhouse Museum' in 1988] and the main University of Technology (UTS) building - 'UTS Tower' [1988].
