Formerly home to a number of heavy industries, Darling Harbour was transformed in the 1980s-1990s to the thriving commercial area you see today.
Named after Lieutenant-General Ralph Darling, Governor of New South Wales from 1825 to 1831.

Darling Harbour, Sydney
Near the southern end of Cockle Bay. Originally known as Long Cove, it was renamed after the numerous shell middens left by generations of the Gadigal people.
