Centennial Park : 'Busby's Bore' Obelisk
Centennial Park. Originally home to the Gadigal people, the area was known from 1816 onward as the 'Lachlan Swamp'. Nearly all (a small section remains) was converted into 220 hectares of urban park in 1888.

This particular item is an obelisk noting the wonderful 'Busby's Bore', a tunnel carrying water from the Lachlan Swamp to Hyde Park. Designed by engineer John Busby, constructed 1827-1837 using convict labour.
