Cockatoo Island - the largest island in Sydney Harbour - seen from Woolwich.
Originally rising to 18 metres (59 ft) above sea level, it was thought to have been used as a fishing base by local Aboriginal groups.
Since the arrival of Europeans it's been used as a convict penal establishment (1839-1869), a shipyard (1857-1991) and a public space for various festivals and events (2001- ). The island was declared a World Heritage Site in Jul 2010.
