Sydney Olympic Park - formerly part of Homebush Bay, named as a separate suburb in 2009. The majority of the large structures and parks here were created specifically for the 2000 Summer Olympics; the area was formerly home to a number of abattoirs and associated businesses.

This particular item is the sculpture 'The Sprinter', created by Dominique Sutton. One of three figures created by Sutton to celebrate the 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games, installed Jul 1998 atop what is now AMP Tower (Centrepoint).
Relocated to Sydney Olympic Park shortly afterward.
