The Nurses Walk (the bulk of the 'Hospital Precinct'). Site of the colony's first hospital (bounded by George, Globe, Harrington and Argyle Streets), set aside in 1788 by the First Fleet in response to an outbreak of Smallpox.
The hospital operated here until relocated to Macquarie Street in 1816.
