Waverton
Balls Head Reserve, Waverton, Sydney, NSW, Australia
The Sydney suburb of Waverton, in the city's 'Lower North Shore' area. Named in 1929 after early resident Robert Old's home 'Waverton Estate' (which in turn was named for the English village).

This particular location is the HMAS Waterhen naval base. Constructed on the site of a former quarry, it functioned originally as a as a boom net maintenance and storage area (during WWII) and later as home to the RAN's mine warfare forces.
Under military control from 15 March 1943 until the end of the war, and again from 1967 - present. In the intervening period it remained as a storage depot.
