Edinburgh, Scotland
End of Canongate, with brass plaques marking the site of the former Netherbow Port (the principal gateway to the old town of Edinburgh). Although a gateway was first discussed in 1369, the Netherbow Port itself was constructed at the same time as the wall it divided (the Flodden Wall) in 1513.
Having been damaged, repaired and even moved; it was finally demolished in 1764.
