Edinburgh, Scotland
Old Assembly Close, High Street. Originally 'Yaris Close' - named for burgess Thomas Yhare; and sometimes 'Gillespie's Close' after baxter David Gillespie, it's best known as the meeting place of the 'New Edinburgh Assembly'.
When the Assembly's dances were moved to new premises in 1736 (unsurprisingly, 'New Assembly Close') this close took on its current name.
