One of the Royal Mile’s four wellheads, in use until 1820. The source was the Castlehill Reservoir [1681], was replaced by a new system (fed by springs from the Pentland Hills) in 1851.
The Resevoir was decommissioned in 1992 and converted into a unique working tartan mill.
