Brown's Close and the site of John Paterson's House, aka 'Golfer's Land'. Built from the winnings from a game of golf with the Duke of York in 1681, demolished 1960.

The name of the Close comes from the next owner of Golfer's Land - variously recorded as John Brown, Joseph Brown and Andrew Brown.
