Francis Greenway
Born in Bristol in 1777, Francis Greenway - transported to Sydney for forging a building contract - was appointed the Colony's 'Acting Civil Architect' by Governor Lachlan Macquarie in 1816.

Grave of builder Nathaniel Lucas beside St Luke's Church, Liverpool (which he built, to a design by Francis Greenway). Lucas died tragically (drowned) during construction, 28 Apr 1818.
