Francis Greenway
Born in Bristol in 1777, Francis Greenway - transported to Sydney for forging a building contract - was appointed the Colony's 'Acting Civil Architect' by Governor Lachlan Macquarie in 1816.

The NSW Parliament House. The oldest part was originally intended to be the west wing of the 'Rum Hospital', built in 1816.
Major defects were repaired by convict architect Francis Greenway less than 5 years later.
