Built as the home of the Colonial Treasury (though certainly not their first) from 1849-1851. Designed by Edmund Blacket, with later (1895-1901) extensions by Walter Liberty Vernon.
The tower building was added in 1984, and the entire structure now serves as the Intercontinental Hotel.
